Note taking

principles productivity system design

I wanted a better system for writing down what I do and learn every day.

I tried regular notes, Notion, OneNote... I stuck with Obsidian for a long time. And I still think highly of it.

But a man always looks for more. Templates, tags, structure, it's endless.

But the more I added, the less I actually wrote anything. It felt like work.

So I came back to the simplest, dumbest format. Just my thoughts in a doc. Date, what I did, what surprised me, what I'd do differently. That's it.

Best format is the simplest one. Especially in startups. Don't fall for "more structure is better."

The only thing that matters is that you actually open it and write. The moment it feels like work you stop doing it.
